AI Persona Companion App

AI Persona is a caricature-robot exhibit at the Seoul Robot & AI Museum, where robots draw a visitor's face in lines. I built a companion web app that visitors open on their own phone from a QR code. It finds the face with the camera and redraws the eyes, nose, mouth and brows as randomized geometric shapes, and a button reshuffles the combination. The icon above the head follows the visitor's expression: a heart for a smile, an anger mark for a frown, an exclamation mark for surprise and a crown for a neutral face.

After the photo, a 30-second animation shows a pen plotter and a Doosan collaborative robot drawing the result, and the visitor saves the drawing through the phone's share sheet.

Video and face coordinates never leave the phone. Face tracking runs in the browser with MediaPipe Face Landmarker, and the only data sent out is an anonymous usage count for the exhibit usage hub I built. I deployed the app on GitHub Pages in September 2026 and designed the A3 QR poster now posted on the exhibit floor.

Highlights

  • Opens on the visitor's phone from a QR code beside the exhibit and redraws their face as randomized geometric shapes.
  • The icon above the head changes with the visitor's expression: smile, frown, surprise or neutral.
  • A 30-second animation of a pen plotter and a Doosan collaborative robot drawing the visitor's result.
  • Video and face data stay on the phone: tracking runs in the browser with MediaPipe Face Landmarker, the camera stops right after capture, and only an anonymous usage count is sent out.
  • Deployed on GitHub Pages in September 2026, with an A3 QR poster I designed for the exhibit floor.
