First Time in the Future? Time-Machine AR
First Time in the Future? is an education program that links 5 spots in the permanent exhibition at the Seoul Robot & AI Museum. Each spot gets a time-machine poster. When a child scans it with a tablet, a 3D time machine flies in for six seconds and lands on screen, Raimi steps out to introduce a future scenario, a short video plays, and the stop ends with a question to answer on a paper worksheet. Finding all five time machines completes the tour. I built the app solo as a web app for a landscape Galaxy Tab A9+, using MindAR image tracking and Three.js.
The app tells the five spots apart by the color of the time machine's band on each poster, corrected for exhibit lighting. Every library is self-hosted with an offline cache in case the museum network blocks CDNs.
The app is deployed with all five videos and scripts in place. Printing and mounting the markers and the first on-site session are still pending, so it has not yet run with visitors.
