ATO Care Robot

ATO is a rabbit-shaped emotional companion robot for single-person households and seniors. Two round displays act as expressive 'eyes' that show emotion, and sensors detect when someone approaches or pets it, triggering reactions. An ESP32 drives the dual GC9A01 round LCDs for eye-expression animations such as blinking and gaze shifts, integrated with PIR proximity detection, capacitive petting touch, DFPlayer audio, and servo-driven ear and arm motion. The build covers the entire process: circuit design, firmware, a 3D-printed body, and microfiber cover sewing patterns. On top of this, ATO integrates YAKMOA, a multimodal-AI feature that recognizes medicines and manages dose schedules, extending the robot from companionship into medication care. YAKMOA was designed as a medication-management service for digitally vulnerable users and people with disabilities, and won a prize at the GH Youth Build-Up Start-up Competition. The robot itself was built solo end to end; the YAKMOA service was planned and commercialized as the 2-person team MAKENEW, where I was PM & developer. The robot is currently a Phase 1 prototype, with medication care being integrated.
